Advanced Trauma Life Support Course (ATLS)
ATLS is a training program based on guidelines established by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT). The ATLS Course is in its 9th edition, developed by the Subcommittee on ATLS and The ACS COT. The ATLS Student Course presents a concise approach to assessing and managing multiply injured patients. Accreditation: The American College of Surgeons designates a maximum of 19 AMA PRA Category 1 credits for the ATLS Student Course. The ATLS Refresher Course is designated for 5 CME credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. LSU Health Shreveport offers ATLS Student and Refresher Courses 3-4 times per year.
