Infectious Diseases

The Infectious Diseases Section of the Department of Medicine is part of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in Shreveport. The twin cities of Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan area are in the northwestern corner of Louisiana, accounting for approximately 390,000 people. Shreveport is about 3 hours from Dallas, 5 hours from Houston, 4 hours from Little Rock, and 6 hours from New Orleans.

The LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport uses the Ocher-LSU hospital as its main teaching hospital. Its bed capacity is 340 beds. There are 6 core faculty members. Areas of clinical and research interest include HIV medicine and literacy, transplant infections, antimicrobial stewardship, viral hepatitis, and algae infections.
