Mini Med School at LSU Health Shreveport began in the spring of 2012 when 30 community members put on white coats and got a taste of medical school. The program has been repeated at least twice a year, with more than 300 Mini Med graduates in the Shreveport-Bossier area! Taught by medical school leadership and faculty, “students” learn about important health topics and the latest developments in healthcare fields. Sessions are typically held every spring and fall.

LSU Health Shreveport is holding its next session in March 2018. This four-week program is held from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays in the month of March.

Session topics include:

  • Traumatic Shock: Saving Patients During the Golden Hour
  • Seeing is Believing: All About Eye Health
  • Age is Just a Number: Physical and Mental Fitness Tips for Any Age
  • In Case of Emergency: Life Saving Tips to Survive the Unexpected
