Educational Familiarization Program

EFP

Students from colleges and universities throughout Louisiana will be selected to participate in a six-week structured Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) review program housed on the campus of Centenary College of Louisiana. The Princeton Review reference materials and instructors will be utilized to assist students with academic preparation. Review courses include: Biology, Physics and Math, Biochemistry, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Psychology and Sociology, and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. Participating students must apply to medical school through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) while attending the program and must also take the MCAT by September of the participating year. The program is schedule to run from June 3, 2019 – July 12, 2019. 

Selection Criteria:

  • Classification: College Junior, Senior or Recent Graduate
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5
  • Louisiana Resident
  • Official Transcript
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Six-Week Commitment
  • Interest in attending LSU Health Shreveport, School of Medicine
  • Prior MCAT score(s) below the national average
  • Housing is eligible for non-local students

  2. Transcript: OFFICIAL transcripts of all schools attended must be submitted as part of the application process. Transcripts can be mailed directly to the Office of Diversity Affairs, 1501 Kings Highway, P.O. Box 33932, Shreveport, Louisiana 71130-3932 or submitted electronically to: mrob38@lsuhsc.edu. You may obtain a transcript through the registrar’s office.
  3. Letter of Recommendation: Please submit two Letters of Recommendation by a science faculty member who is familiar with your academic performances and personal attributes: strengths, weaknesses, attitude, and character. Letters of Recommendations may be mailed directly or submitted electronically to: mrob38@lsuhsc.edu Please submit Letters of Recommendations on official school letterhead stationary only. 
  4. Medical College Admissions Test Verification: Please submit copy of prior MCAT test score(s) as apart of the application process. MCAT test scores can be mailed directly or submitted electronically to: mrob38@lsuhsc.edu
