Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association

The foundation for APAMSA was laid in 1993 by students who met to discuss the unique challenges faced by Asian Pacific American (APA) medical students.   However, it was not until 1995 that the group was officially started as a national organization with a strong, community, and political voice that promotes and addresses health issues specific to the APA community. The primary goal of the organization is to assist healthcare professionals working with APA patients in understanding the need for culturally competent and sensitive healthcare. APAMSA has also provided an important forum for its members to meet, exchange information, and promote both personal and professional development.
